PSSSB Group D Recruitment 2026 Form Reopen: apply online for 1401 posts

This window was originally open earlier in the year and has now been reopened — note the new closing date carefully.

Fee is category-based, and once paid, it’s non-refundable under any circumstances — no fee waiver is given to any candidate.

A total of 1401 Group-D posts have been received from multiple Punjab Government departments, spread across 42 department/post combinations — mainly Sewadar, Chowkidar, and various Animal Husbandry Department field posts. Here are the largest ones:

You need to have passed Matriculation standard, with Punjabi language as one of the subjects, from a recognised educational institution.

Mandatory Punjabi Language Test: separately, every candidate must also pass a qualifying Punjabi Language test equivalent to Matriculation standard with a minimum of 50% marks. This is compulsory — failing to score 50% in this test disqualifies you from the final merit list, no matter how well you score elsewhere.

Age is calculated as on 01 January 2026. Several categories get relaxation on the general upper limit.

Selected candidates will draw pay under the 7th Pay Commission scale, along with allowances as per Punjab Government norms.

Selection is purely through a written exam — there’s no interview. Here’s how it works:

1. Objective-type (MCQ) Written Examination — held in two parts, Part A and Part B.
2. Part A (Qualifying only) — a Matriculation-standard Punjabi language paper. You must score at least 50% to qualify, but these marks don’t count toward your merit ranking.
3. Part B (Merit-determining) — this is what decides your rank. Each question carries 1 mark, with a 1/4 mark deduction for each wrong answer.
4. Common Merit List — prepared solely on Part-B marks. Ties are broken first by date of birth (older candidates rank higher), then by percentage in the required educational qualification.
5. Counselling / Document Verification — shortlisted candidates are called based on the merit list; successful candidates are then recommended to the relevant department based on category-wise post availability.

The written exam is Objective-type (MCQ), split into two parts as described in Selection Process above.

Keep these ready before applying and for counselling later:

• 10th (Matriculation) certificate and mark-sheet
• Educational qualification certificate(s), issued before your application date
• Recent passport-size photograph (or live photo capture) and scanned signature
• Punjab Domicile/Residence Certificate, not older than 5 years (for reservation benefit)
• Category certificate (SC/BC/EWS), issued as per prevailing Punjab Government instructions, if applicable
• Ex-Servicemen, Divyang (PwD), or Sportsperson certificate, if applying under that category

Applications are accepted online only, through the Board’s website. Follow these steps:

1. Go to sssb.punjab.gov.in and click the “Apply Online” link.
2. New candidates click “Registration” and fill in their details to generate a User ID (their registered email) and Password; existing candidates simply log in.
3. Fill in your personal, educational, and other required details accurately, then upload your photo and signature.
4. Click “Attach Annexure” to upload scanned copies of your 10th certificate, educational certificates, and other mandatory documents, then click “Save Documents”.
5. Click “Make Payment” and pay the applicable fee online.
6. Click “Submit” to complete your application — print the confirmation for future reference.
